The 2nd Annual ABRA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Is scheduled for October 21-23. This show has become the ABRA’s premier event, and one that you will not want to miss. The World Championship will encompass 3 ABRA Conformation shows, APA Nationals, and several open events such as hardest hitting, hang time, sprint race (Adult and Puppy), feistiest puppy etc. This means that you will have (3) opportunities to win an Adult BIS, or get a Champion Title on your dog to qualify and compete in the World Champion Ring Sunday afternoon for the title of ABRA World Champion. Last year’s winner Ch. Root’s Torque had never been shown before in the ABRA, and ended up travelling home with the hardware. This year, it could be YOU!!

The setting of the ABRA World Championship is second to none. The Purina Event Center is an 84,000-square-foot state-of-the-art indoor facility that opened in August 2010. It can accommodate the largest of dog shows/ performance events, and includes all the extra amenities to make every event exceptional. Purina Farms is an amazing site which offers a wide array of activities for the entire family.
The Gateway Classic Crew spares no expenses to put on the Best American Bulldog show in existence. It is evident by the judges, awards, setting, and the level of competition it attracts. This year our Judges List reads like the Who’s Who of American Bulldogs.

The man known as “T” from Megabulls, Mr. Theo Van Veen is going to grace us with his presence and help make the decisions that will further shape our breed. He hails from Holland and is Europe’s leading authority in American Bulldogs. In his time in the breed he has acquired and produced some of the most well known dogs in the breed. The likes of 50, Canon, Baby 50, and the list can go on and on. It doesn’t take a paragraph or an explanation to introduce him, the letter “T” and kennel name Megabulls says it all!!

The American Bulldog legend Tony Mancera is yet another judge on the list. Tony has been in the breed 26 years and is 5-6 generations deep into producing Mancera American Bulldogs. He is the founder of the ABRA, and has judged more shows and dogs than anyone in the history of the breed. Tony is responsible for the introduction and handling of another AB legend, the dog known simply as Fass!! There is no doubt that this man has seen and tested some of the best bulldogs the breed has ever seen.

Rounding out the list of judges is the ever elusive, iconic, and most mysterious figure of the AB community. His name is synonymous with performance American bulldogs and his line is one of the most sought after strains worldwide. Mr. John Lichthardt aka “JEL” is a big proponent of the “Natrural Dog” philosophy and his program is known for producing dogs such as Felony, Marley, Banshee, Thong, Butch and Who just to name a few.

The 2nd Annual ABRA World Championship has announced the following judges for the upcoming October 21-23 event. This year our Judges are as follows: Tony Mancera, Theo VanVeen, and John Lichthardt.

Currently the Gateway Classic Crew is the only American Bulldog show in the United States who is bringing in judges from outside the North American continent. We do this to offer up new judges, add variety, and unbiased opinions. It is our mission to create the most level playing field possible. That is why for the World Champion Class held on Sunday afternoon all three of these judges will participate in choosing the dog most deserving of the ABRA World Champion Title. Remember there will be three ABRA conformation shows leading up to the World Champion Ring, giving you three opportunities to qualify and compete for this title. What it takes to compete is an ABRA Champion Title, or a 2011 Best In Show win. So far the Gateway Classic Crew has hosted 12 conformation events, had 12 different judges, and 10 different Best In Show winners. I think we can attribute this to the diversity of our judges, and our desire to offer fair competition.

In order to put on events of this magnitude it takes money and support from the American Bulldog Community. We would like to thank everyone who has supported our past events, and those who continue to do so. There is no set amount for sponsorship as any amount will be appreciated. This year we are adding some incentive to support our event. Everyone who sends a sponsorship of $50 USD or more will receive an ABRA World Champion T-shirt posted below. Just make sure to add your address, and size along with your contribution to the PayPal accountl

Here is the link to the comprehensive ABRA World Championship website. It will provide you with any information needed to attend the show and an opportunity to support one of the best shows in the world.
